Project Background & Manufacturing Challenge

This Kickstarter-funded project required a casino-grade tactile experience. The creator demanded zero light transmission paired with a high-impact visual finish.

The core manufacturing challenge was executing flawless holographic edge gilding. We had to achieve this without compromising the structural integrity of the 300gsm German Black Core stock.

To prevent cards from sticking together during the heat-transfer phase, we calibrated a specialized curing environment. This advanced engineering is a standard part of our custom playing card printing services.

When specifying holographic or metallic edge gilding, carefully consider your border artwork.
The micro-sanding and heat-transfer processes required for foil adhesion can occasionally cause microscopic pigment migration. Full-bleed dark artwork or dark borders seamlessly mask these micro-tolerances.
If your design requires crisp white borders, we highly recommend pairing the foil edge with a slightly thicker varnish layer to seal the paper fibers prior to gilding.
